A blogger......reborn!
Last night whilst interacting in another fantastic "Learn, Create, Share" staff meeting with an amazing and dedicated bunch of educators I got stuck down with a HUGE attack of the guilts!!!!
Here I was a professional leader who tries to live by the mantra leading by example and is a staunch advocate of the power of "Learn, Create, Share", not practicing what I preach! Yes, I have learnt plenty. Created and combined new and existing knowledge....tick. However sharing my learnings with an audience beyond South Hornby School, the Te Uru Manuka Cluster or the odd conference presentation has been sadly lacking!!!
I began a professional blog in 2014 with great gusto but this fell away into the educational abyss! But no longer. I'm back and here to stay!
My initial posts are going to be a trip down memory lane as I highlight and re-reflect on the South Hornby School Journey to date. The key areas of focus that I want to reflect and build upon is the:

My initial posts are going to be a trip down memory lane as I highlight and re-reflect on the South Hornby School Journey to date. The key areas of focus that I want to reflect and build upon is the:
- impact of "Learn, Create, Share" pedagogy on the students, staff and community of South Hornby School
- journey of both the physical and the educational transition of South Hornby School
Back in 2014 I named my blog "From This to That: Surfing a Tsunami". I feel this is still a relevant title today as all schools continue to re-define, re-learn and re-create relationships, pedagogies and practices, new digital affordances and environments that meet the needs of our learners of today for their future as confident, connected lifelong learners. The "This and That" refers to the constantly changing goalposts of providing a future focussed, adaptive and individualised learning landscape, while we as educators constantly try to learn and apply the new knowledge, skills and attributes required to support our learners. As an educator I liken this to "Surfing in a Tsunami"........exciting but daunting at the same time!
I reflected upon whether I should spend my time back dating this blog to show the "This and That" Journey we have been "surfing". I decided for my sake, as it is possibly of no interest to anybody else, that I would as to me it reinforces the incredible amount of learning, creating and sharing South Hornby School has gone through.
To do this I have created a yearly highlights reel of random presentations and ramblings that have shaped my thinking today.
